QuoteSeal vs Jobber vs Housecall Pro (2026 Honest Comparison)
If you are shopping for contractor software in 2026, these three names keep coming up. They look similar on the surface — all help you send quotes, schedule work, and get paid — but they are built for very different businesses. This page is an honest, side-by-side look at what each one actually does well, where each one falls short, and how to pick the right tool for your crew.
We make QuoteSeal, so we are obviously biased. We have tried to be straight about it: where Jobber and Housecall Pro beat us, and where we genuinely think we built something different. Last updated: August 2026.
The one-sentence difference
- Jobber is a full field service management platform for small and mid-size home service businesses. Established in 2010 in Canada, used by 400,000+ contractors. It does everything — quotes, scheduling, dispatch, invoicing, payments, marketing — and it does most of it well.
- Housecall Pro is the same kind of all-in-one field service platform, but with a more app-first, modern feel. Founded in 2013, popular with growing crews who want their phone to feel like the dashboard. Strong on Tap to Pay, review automation, and customer communication.
- QuoteSeal is not a field service platform. It is a single-purpose mobile app for the moment you close a job in the driveway: build a quote, capture the signature, attach photos as evidence, sync when you get back to the truck. That's it. No dispatch. No CRM. No marketing.
The cleanest way to think about it: Jobber and Housecall Pro are operating systems for your business. QuoteSeal is the tool you reach for in the 30 seconds that decide whether you get the job.

Pricing pulled from each vendor's public site, August 2026. Jobber and Housecall Pro are sold per user, so a 4-person crew on Jobber Core ($65/mo) is paying $260/month before you add SMS or review automation. QuoteSeal does not charge per user.
Where Jobber genuinely wins
Jobber has been around since 2010 and it shows — in the good ways. If you run a real field service business with 3–20 techs, recurring maintenance contracts, and customers who need to log in to a portal to see their next service, Jobber is a better tool than QuoteSeal. Period. Here is what they do that we do not:
- Dispatch and route optimization. Jobber's calendar, drag-and-drop scheduling, and map routing are mature. You can run a multi-truck operation from it.
- Client Hub (customer portal). Your customers can log in, see past jobs, approve new quotes, pay invoices, and refer friends. We do not have anything close.
- Jobber Receptionist (AI answering). An AI receptionist that picks up calls, books jobs, and answers FAQs when you cannot. Useful for a busy shop.
- Jobber Capital. They will advance you cash against your invoices. Not relevant for solo contractors, but a real feature for growing shops.
- 400,000+ contractor user base. That means community, YouTube tutorials, integrations, and accountants who already know how to read the data.
Where Housecall Pro genuinely wins
Housecall Pro is newer (2013) but it has built a polished, app-first experience that a lot of contractors genuinely love. If the way your phone feels matters to you — and for a solo operator it absolutely should — Housecall Pro is a beautiful piece of software. Specific wins:
- Tap to Pay on iPhone. Native integration. You can take a card on the same phone you wrote the quote on, with no extra hardware. Jobber added this too, but Housecall Pro feels like it was designed around it.
- Review automation out of the box. When a job closes, HCP automatically asks the happy customer for a Google review, and routes unhappy customers to a private feedback form first. Reviews show up in the dashboard.
- Customer communication hub. Two-way texting, email templates, automated reminders. The communications module is noticeably better than Jobber's.
- App Store reviews. 4.7+ stars on tens of thousands of ratings. Users like the app. That is not nothing.
Where QuoteSeal genuinely wins (and is honest about limits)
We are not trying to be Jobber. We are trying to do one thing extremely well: capture the signature and evidence in the 30 seconds you have at the door. If that is the part of your workflow that loses you money, here is what we built:
- Truly offline. Build, present, and sign a quote with no cell signal. Jobber and HCP's mobile apps have some offline support, but we built the whole app to work that way first. Useful for basements, rural jobs, and weak-signal driveways.
- Photo evidence is first-class. Every quote can have photos attached at the time of signature — before, during, and after the work. When the customer disputes scope two months later, you have a version-locked record of what was agreed and what the job looked like. Jobber and HCP let you put photos in job notes, but they are not the focus.
- Zero per-user pricing. Your apprentice uses it on their phone for free. There is no user count to manage.
- Version-locked records. Once a quote is signed, it is locked. Subsequent edits create a new version, not an in-place change. This matters in a dispute.
- You finish in 30 seconds. The whole flow is designed for the doorbell. Open app, build quote, present, sign, photo, done. No portal, no waiting for an email reply, no customer needing to create an account.
When to use what (the honest version)
Use QuoteSeal if you are…
- A solo contractor or 1–2 person crew
- Doing mostly residential, on-site work (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, handyman, roofing, painting, etc.)
- Closing jobs in the driveway and losing too many because the customer wants to "think about it"
- Working in areas with bad cell coverage
- Already using Jobber or HCP but unhappy with the moment of signature (you can use QuoteSeal alongside them)
- Just starting out and not ready to pay $49–$149/month for software
Use Jobber if you are…
- Running a 3–20 person crew with multiple trucks
- Doing recurring maintenance work (HVAC service plans, landscaping contracts, etc.)
- Want a customer portal and marketing automation
- Willing to invest $200–$1,000/month in software that runs your whole business
- Need QuickBooks sync, dispatch, and time tracking in one place
Use Housecall Pro if you are…
- A growing crew (2–10 people) that wants the nicest app experience
- Doing lots of small, one-off residential jobs where speed and polish matter
- Willing to pay $59–$149/month for that polish
- Heavy on Tap to Pay and automated review requests
Or: use both
A lot of contractors we talked to while building QuoteSeal already pay for Jobber or HCP and still wanted something faster for the signature moment. If that is you, keep your FSM for the back office and use QuoteSeal for the doorbell. They don't integrate today, but the QuoteSeal PDF drops cleanly into Jobber or HCP as a job attachment.
The bottom line
Jobber is the safe, established choice for a real field service business. Housecall Pro is the slicker, more app-first choice for a similar business that is willing to pay for polish. QuoteSeal is the single-purpose tool for the moment that decides whether you get paid — built for solo contractors and small crews who lose jobs at the signature step.
Try QuoteSeal free for your first 10 quotes. If you outgrow it, you will know — and Jobber will be there with everything else you need.
Frequently asked questions
Is QuoteSeal cheaper than Jobber and Housecall Pro?
Yes. QuoteSeal is free for your first 10 quotes. After that it stays a single low price, not a per-user per-month SaaS fee. Jobber starts at $9/month but quickly grows as you add users and SMS; Housecall Pro starts at $59/month.
Can QuoteSeal replace Jobber or Housecall Pro?
No, and we don't recommend it for most users. Jobber and Housecall Pro are full field service management systems — they handle scheduling, dispatch, recurring work, customer portals, and accounting sync. QuoteSeal only does the on-site quote-to-signature moment. Many contractors use both: Jobber or HCP to run the business, QuoteSeal for the signature and evidence step.
Does QuoteSeal work offline?
Yes. You can build the quote, present it, and capture the customer signature without a cell signal. Records sync to the cloud when the phone reconnects. Jobber and Housecall Pro also support offline in some flows, but QuoteSeal was designed offline-first.
Which is best for a solo contractor?
If you are solo or run a 1-2 person crew, mostly residential work, and you don't need a customer portal, marketing automation, or dispatch — QuoteSeal is enough. If you want those features and have the budget, Jobber is the most established option. Housecall Pro is great if you want a more app-first, modern interface and are willing to pay $59+ a month for it.
Do Jobber or Housecall Pro capture signatures on site?
Both do. You can send a quote, the customer can e-sign it on their phone or on yours. The difference is workflow: Jobber and HCP assume you email or SMS the quote and wait. QuoteSeal assumes you are standing in front of the customer — quote, walk, sign, photo, done in 30 seconds, all on the same screen.
